“Supplication” from ‘Jewish Life, No.2’ is a work for cello and piano by Ernest Bloch.

‘Jewish Life’ is a set of three short pieces, or movements, written by the composer in 1924 for the cellist Hans Kindler. The first movement is ‘Prayer’, a hymn like piece, the second is ‘Supplication’ which is a faster paced movement and the third is ‘Jewish Song’ based on the characteristics of Jewish folksong.

Ernest Bloch (July 24, 1880 – July 15, 1959) was a Swiss-born American composer.  Bloch was a preeminent artist in his day, and left a lasting legacy. He is recognized as one of the greatest Swiss composers in history.
