“Clair de Lune” is a work for voice and piano by French composer Claude Debussy.
‘Clair de Lune’ is based on a French poem written by Paul Verlaine in 1869. Debussy made two settings of the poem for voice and piano. The poem has also been set to music by Gabriel Fauré and Jozef Szulc. Verlaine’s poem “Clair de lune”, translates as “moonlight” in French.
It is not to be confused with the third movement from Debussy’s 1890 Suite Bergamasque of the same name which has become one of Debussy’s most famous piano works.
